We
spent the entire morning lounging around the villa; reading, chatting
and eating. We finally felt raring to go at siesta time –
just our luck! We drove into Viareggio and chose a nice spot for
lunch in one of the beach front pizzerias. I had bought Tom a honeymoon
present before we got married and he got around to opening it while
waiting for his pizza. It was a pocket stunt kite to play with on
the beach.
We walked up the promenade and into the port where we gazed at
more lovely boats. The car hire chappy still did not have a cabrio
Smart for us and his scooter looked pre-war, so we decided to keep
the Megane and drop it off at the airport on our way home a week
later. Although we did not get to hire a Smart cabrio, I did find
a Smart car... of sorts (as you can see from the picture). We were
then ready for a little spot of something, so we walked to the nice
cafe in the middle of the promenade for delicious cappuccino’s
and Tom asked for two little cakes in Italian – we have no
idea what we ate but they were yummy. We then drove to the supermarket
and bought enough groceries to last us through the weekend.
We’ve just had melon and parma ham with focaccia for supper
(Tom also had a banana sandwich and a honey sandwich – he
was still peckish). We are now going to bed to read about Lucca
where we are going tomorrow enjoy honeymooning activities (thanks
to Tom for the amendment). I have added sunburn on my arms to the
rather attractive heat rash I've had on my neck and chest since
Tuesday (and still he finds me irresistible – it must be love). |
