Oh
how we love these lazy mornings reading and dozing until noon. We
dressed and went into Lucca again. We found the restaurant previously
recommended by the Tourist Information lady – in fact, we
could not have parked closer. The place was recommended for serving
traditional Tuscan fare. Tom ordered antipasto and a primi of polenta
for me. What arrived was antipasto and a thick bean soup eaten with
a fork which was tasty but not what we thought we’d ordered.
Tom had a main of slow cooked pork and I had Tuscan sausages with
flagolot beans. We ordered Tiramisu and semi freddo for dolche and
got tiramisu and a kind of trifle. So having ordered something off
the menu for a change, we got whatever the waitress felt like bringing
us. The staff were not exactly cheerful but the food was fresh and
we have at least tasted traditional Tuscan fare.
Other than the restaurant, we wanted to visit Lucca again to see
the tower with trees growing out of the top. We wandered around
until we found it and then wandered some more. We bought some souvenirs
then had cappuccino and (six) biscotti in a café in the main
piazza. We went back to the villa for some reading and a supper
of pizza da taglio ken insalata (pizza with salad). After kicking
around a ball in the garden for a while, we had an early night because
tomorrow we are going to Firenze. |
