A leisurely breakfast was followed by unpacking –
the only casualty being Tom’s trainer which got covered with
escaped Italian honey. We dressed in clean, left-over holiday clothes
and looked at the wedding and honeymoon photo’s on the telly.
After lunch and a phone call to catch up with the Ashes, we went
around to Gramdma's for a cup of tea and to deliver some souvenirs.
Grandma took one look at me and said, “ah, yes,”then
looked at Tom and said “yes. I don’t need to ask if
you had a good time – I can see you did;” which we thought
was really sweet. We had tea and biscuits then took Grandma round
to Jon and Viv’s to see their lupins. We put up some of the
photo’s on their telly. Viv said ours was the best wedding
she’d been to. Jon said nothing but probably felt Viv did
enough enthusing for both of them.
Feeling warm and cuddly all over, we came home to a dinner of lemon
chicken, rice and grated carrot salad. Tom spoke to his mum while
I cleared up after dinner. Mary was impressed by his ability to
point in Italian and by his knowledge of Italian words such as biscotti,
chocolati and gelataria. She sounds as if she has shown wedding
photographs to just about everyone who will let her. Next Tom phoned
his Dad to let him know we were home safe. Andy seemed a little
dazed from having just returned from touring Wales. Jamie seemed
pleased to hear from Tom. He had really enjoyed the wedding day
and asked all about the honeymoon. Jamie said he liked the wedding
day because he had fun and also enjoyed watching the pair of us
look at one another and state publicly that we were sure about what
we were doing and both meant it. |
